The app keeps your reading data on your device. We do not run accounts or server-side reading profiles.
The marketing website uses Umami analytics and, if you choose to send feedback, a contact form protected by Cloudflare Turnstile.
Our Commitment
"Sometimes:" keeps your privacy simple. Poetry should be a private, peaceful experience. This policy explains what data the app handles and how.
App and Website Scope
This page covers both the iOS app and the public website at sometimes.deftmag.com. The app itself does not include analytics or tracking. The website uses Umami analytics for page visits and related website usage reporting. The website also offers a feedback/contact form; using that form is optional.
Data Storage
What's Stored Locally on Your Device
The following data is stored only on your device using iOS on-device storage:
- Poem Delivery History: Records of which poems you've received and when
- Favorites: Poems you've marked as favorites
- Preferences: Your settings including delivery frequency, active hours, and pause status
This data remains on your device at all times. It is never uploaded to any server because we don't have servers. You can delete it instantly by deleting the App. It may be included in your personal iCloud backups if you have App backup enabled.
What We Do NOT Collect
In the app, we don't collect usernames, emails, or accounts. Your location, contacts, and photos? We never touch them. No app tracking, no device IDs, no crash reports.

Weather Information
Weather context allows us to select fitting poems—like rain poems on rainy days.
- Service: Apple WeatherKit
- Location: Not collected from device sensors. No location permission is requested.
- How it works: You select an area in the app. That selection is stored locally on your device and used to query WeatherKit for current conditions, hourly forecasts, and historical hourly observations. Forecasts help choose poems but are never saved or shown. Only observed conditions may be recorded in your archive.

In-App Purchases
If you choose to leave an optional tip, the transaction is handled by Apple StoreKit. We never see, access, or store any payment information.
Website Analytics
The website uses Umami analytics. This tells us information such as page views, referrers, device type, and country-level location. We do not use this for advertising, cross-site tracking, or data brokerage.
Website Feedback Form
If you choose to send feedback through the website form, we receive the message you write, the optional email address you provide, the page you submitted it from, and basic request metadata such as your browser's user agent. The message is sent to us by email through Resend.
The form uses Cloudflare Turnstile to reduce spam. Turnstile verifies a challenge token and request information such as your IP address with Cloudflare before the message is sent. We use this only to protect the form from abuse.
Permissions
Notifications
- Why: To deliver poems at scheduled times throughout your day
- What we access: Permission to display notifications
- Data shared: None. Notifications are generated entirely on your device.
- Control: You can enable or disable notifications at any time in iOS Settings
Photo Library (Add Only)
- Why: If you choose to save a poem image to your photos
- What we access: Permission to add images only (we cannot read your photos)
- Data shared: None. Images are created on your device.
Permissions We Do NOT Request
We do not request access to GPS, Camera, Contacts, Microphone, Calendar, Health Data, or Tracking (ATT).
Data Retention
On-device app data is retained until you delete the App. If you contact us by email or through the website form, we may keep that message as long as needed to read, respond, and maintain reasonable support records.
Children's Privacy
The app doesn't collect personal data from anyone, including children. Since there's no personal information collected in the app, users of all ages can safely use it.
Your Rights
You can see all your data in the app itself since everything is stored on your device. To delete it, just delete the app. If you want to stop the weather feature, clear your area in Settings; without an area the app makes no weather requests.
Data Security
Your app data is protected by iOS encryption. All network requests use HTTPS. We do not send app data to advertisers or analytics services, and the website analytics and feedback form are not used for advertising, cross-site tracking, or data brokerage.
Changes to This Policy
If we update this policy, the date at the bottom will change. Keep using the app and you're accepting the new version.
